Abstract: In this essay I will attempt to undermine Heidegger's claim that Being and Time constitutes a phenomenological account of Dasein's Being-in-the-world. In order to do this I plan to expose the socio-historical specificity of the Dasein Heidegger describes/creates. By showing that Heidegger's Dasein is a very specific kind of Being-in-the-world, I will discredit the idea that Heidegger's account constitutes a description of some universal, a priori `structure of Being-in-the-world.'
