Abstract
This thesis explores the complexities of institutional management and culture formation at an elite liberal arts college in the northeast of the United States. An ethnographic study, including interviewing and document analysis, was conducted in the Spring of 2015 with subjects who were all active participants on the College’s campus. The results show a culture that is deeply entrenched in a fear of responsibility. The analysis provides support for creating systems that disseminate ownership and show the organizational impact of each activity that participants create.
