Abstract
Description
Richard Oulahan interviews Gautama Fonseca in 2006. Gautama talks about people, such as Celeo Gonzalez and Oscar Gale, who not only influenced the “campesino” and labor movement in Honduras, but also its national politics. Gautama Fonseca also talks about Rigoberto Sandoval’s role in the government and his genuine interest in “campesino” issues, and also gives his opinion on Sandoval’s work. Gautama Fonseca talks about issues in government shifts and about corruption in the government. In the second part of the interview, Gautama Fonseca and Oulahan talk about the issues Honduras faces nowadays, and reflect on why there are still so many crises despite the work that was done in the 80s to improve the lives of the “campesinos”. Gautama Fonseca focuses on how the problem of drug trafficking should be a point of focus for improving the situation of many Latin American countries.
