Abstract
In addition to being an increasingly prominent means of poverty alleviation, micro nance has developed a reputation as a means for empowering women. This paper focuses on one particular measure of women's empowerment, domestic violence. It nds that while there is a positive relationship between micro nance membership and levels of domestic violence in Bangladesh, this relationship is limited to less severe kinds of violence.
